Задача 1
I don't approve of people ___________ (kill) animals for fun.
Решение
В предложении "I don't approve of people ___________ (kill) animals for fun" необходимо вставить правильную форму глагола "kill".
Suddenly everybody stopped ________ (talk). It was silent
It was silent."

Did you have any difficulty ___________ (get) a visa to Georgia?
Решение
В предложении "Did you have any difficulty ___________ (get) a visa to Georgia?"

- Essential needs are available in cities.
- Cities are great trading places.
- Experience of both living areas is important.
- Big cities are exciting.

- You are sure to see special city beauty.
Решение
I grew up in a small town and then moved to a big city, so I have experienced the good and bad sides of both. I never thought that I would like living in a big city, but I was wrong. After ten years of living in one, I can’t imagine ever living in a small town again. I love the excitement of big cities. Small towns have a small pace. Large cities mean you have to adapt to a variety of situations, like finding a new route to work or trying a new restaurant. I enjoy that challenge very much.
Speaker B
Small towns and big cities both have some problems in terms of transportation. In a small town, you have a town car to ensure a comfortable living. You can’t get around without one because there isn’t any kind of public transportation. Big cities generally have heavy traffic and expensive parking, but there you have a choice of taking public transportation. It’s not free, but it’s often cheaper than driving when you consider gas and time. Especially, if you don’t have a car, you are better off in the city.
Speaker C
I like the excitement of big cities. Small towns have a slow pace. Large cities mean you have to adapt to a variety of situations, like finding a new route to work or trying a new restaurant. I enjoy the challenge very much. Another pan of the excitement of city living is the variety of cultural activities available. There is a wide assortment of theatre, music and dance performances available in big cities. These things are rare in small ones.
Speaker D
An important thing for me in a big city is the diversity of people. Our society is made up of people of different nations, races, religions, abilities and interests. However, you seldom find such a variety of people in a small town. I think that living in an area where everyone was just like me would quickly become boring. So, people who are so different doing so many things in their lives is really great in a big city. Sometimes, I just sit on a public bench and simply watch the variegated streams of citizens.
Speaker E
To begin with, the city is the symbol of human civilization and there are many facilities for living, recreation and health care. Therefore, living there is more convenient than living in the countryside. For example, we can find a plenty of malls around our neighborhood, where we can buy everyday necessities at a low price. Furthermore, people are more concerned about their health and safety than other things in their lives. In big cities, medical facilities and emergency services are more easily available than in the countryside.
Speaker F
Architecture is the urban landscape. If a person has an appreciation of architecture, a city can be visual excitement. A modern metropolis is a mountain range of height, light and solidness. And then there are the old buildings: the quaint, unspoiled side-street or shops and homes from a distant age. If a person lived all of his life in one large city, he would continue to discover its architectural secrets into his old age.

- Reading fiction could be a good replacement for being on social media.
- We don’t read less than we used to, we just read different things.
- People shouldn’t be judged if they don’t like to read.
- Reading is much more beneficial than watching movies.
- Good books help to develop imagination.
- Audiobooks are helpful for slow readers.
- Reading too much can contribute to health problems.
Решение
If you ask me, I barely have any time to read. Don’t get me wrong — I read plenty of books, but these days it’s for my studies only. For me, reading for pleasure is very important, but there are only so many hours a day! Moreover, my eyesight has already started getting worse, and I’ve been told by a doctor that my eyes needed immediate rest. Because of this, unfortunately, I choose to read only the most necessary information.
Speaker B
To tell you the truth, I don’t understand why so many people nowadays claim that nobody reads anymore. Yes, we probably read paper books less often, that’s fair criticism — but being online 24/7, that is 24 hours 7 days a week, everything you do is read! Social media posts, blogs, forums... If anything, I would agree that we actually consume much, much more of written texts. Of course one could say that it’s not the same thing as reading high-quality intellectual fiction, but it’s better than nothing, I guess.
Speaker C
Personally, I don’t read anymore — I listen. Even though I really love good books, I’ve always been a very slow reader, which is incredibly annoying. Audiobooks have turned out to be an amazing solution to this problem. It’s very convenient to listen to them on any gadget you have, the voices of actors are usually very pleasant — and, what’s more important, you can listen to a good book while doing something else! I really like having an audiobook in the background when I cook or do stuff around the house. I’ve managed to finish several new books since I’ve started doing that.
Speaker D
To be completely honest, reading is, like, my only hobby. Of course, people often argue that reading is boring, or proclaim that reading is unnecessary in the age of digital media, but I simply couldn’t disagree more. I believe that reading is indispensable when it comes to developing imagination. When you watch a movie, you don’t have to think too hard about the characters’ appearance or the setting — everything is presented to you ready-made! While you’re reading, though, the world-building is completely up to you. Even though you rely on the author’s descriptions, each person would still have a unique picture in their head. It’s amazing!
Speaker E
I guess people always react in a very strange way when I say that — but no, I don’t like reading. There are so many different kinds of media in the modern world that I don’t quite understand why everyone is so focused on reading. It’s so old-fashioned! I would always choose a good movie or TV series over a book, and I don’t think there should be anything wrong with that. After all, a lot of books have been adapted into great movies, so I can always watch them. I wish everyone just accepted the fact that reading isn’t the only way to become smarter.
Speaker F
I completely agree that most of us don’t read that much anymore. On the one hand, it’s understandable, as we all have very busy lives. On the other hand, though, I believe that there are so many useless activities which could have been replaced by reading a good book. For example, if we simply counted all the time that we spend during the week scrolling our social media feeds, it would probably be enough to read a novel by Tolstoy! How about the next time you want to check your social media, you grab a book and read a few pages?
Задача 15

- These marriage goals are seeking for family harmony.
- This commitment is to improve physical health.
- Getting knowledge is a prior goal.
- This goal is the development of proper mindset and balance.
- This is a plan to become permanently active in the needs of the community.
- It is important to aim at stress-busting leisure time.
- This goal sets career passion to get personal satisfaction.
Решение
I’m strongly convinced that every day lived is another piece of my education. What am I doing with the knowledge I have absorbed? I know that 10 years from now I will not be the same man and have the same thoughts. I believe that this process needs to be focused and nurtured. I do not fear change, because it’s going to come anyway. I am trying to embrace it and shape it instead. I set my goals so that 10 years from now I am wiser, more adaptable and more complete.
Speaker B
When people set goals, they almost always look towards their careers first. That is a mistake, but that’s not to say your career isn’t important, because it certainly is. For me, balance is required to fully reach my career potential, no matter what it is I do. Employers respond very positively to employees they can trust. Healthy attitudes, strong aptitude, and good people skills are essential to get ahead. My goal here should be to passionately enjoy my chosen profession while maintaining excellent balance between home and work.
Speaker C
A good place to start when talking about life goals is to make sure you actually have a life, say, 10 years from now. For me that certainly starts with good physical health. There are no guarantees on living a long life, but it is possible to greatly increase your odds. I think it is reasonable to listen to doctors when they tell you to lose extra pounds. I have created an exercise plan that I enjoy and relish. Everybody should make sure that 10 years from now they are as vibrant and capable as they are right now.
Speaker D
Of course, I’m young enough to set some definite goal in this aspect as when setting personal goals we should first take stock of where we already are. But nevertheless, I hope that my marriage will be extremely secure and amicable. I think that it is quite understandable that the goal of every person is a family with parents and their children living in peace and harmony. As for me, the role model of my future partner are my parents who always do their best to maintain the caring and friendly atmosphere in our family.
Speaker E
What is my attitude like? Am I overly aggressive or abrasive? Timid and self- defeating? My mindset needs to be in proper balance. Too much or too little of any one particular ingredient can send me in the wrong directions and I know that. Personal growth occurs as we begin to learn exactly who we are. Our strengths and our weaknesses. Smart goals are ones that develop us in a positive way. I think I will carefully consider the person I want to be, and set my sights on how to achieve it.
Speaker F
Talking about their goals, people usually mention healing family relationships, moving ahead in their careers, straightening out their finances, serving others. But how about a little “your” time? If you ask me, I am convinced that stress can be a killer. It is important that time is set aside to relax and just enjoy life. It is up to each of us to do so. So, I’m just going to make sure that in my planning, leisure is included.

Speaker A
My favorite season is winter. The delicate beauty of snow-covered landscapes enchants me, creating a serene and magical atmosphere. I relish the cozy feeling of wrapping myself in warm blankets and sipping hot cocoa by the fireplace. The holidays add an extra touch of joy, bringing loved ones together. Despite the chill, winter inspires introspection and encourages me to slow down, reflecting on the passing year. The crisp air inspires my senses, and the quietness of early mornings brings a sense of tranquility that is unparalleled.
Speaker B
Summer is definitely my most favorite season. The sun’s radiant embrace casts its warmth upon us, inviting endless adventures and joyful moments. The longer days offer us ample time to explore new destinations, soak up vitamin D at the beach, and indulge in leisurely activities. The carefree spirit of summer brings me a sense of liberation and excitement, as laughter fills the air and memories are made. As for me, from backyard barbecues to late-night stargazing, summer ignites a sense of togetherness and celebration that leaves a lasting impression.
Speaker C
My favourite season of the year is summer. On summer evenings my mom and dad cook different dishes together in the open air. I also lend a hand to them. Later in the evening, we all sit in the open air and snack together. Additionally, my father plays songs at the backdrop to add ambiance to the setting. The summer season is sentimental to me. The fun activities, the late-night movies, the hearty laughs with the friends and family will all remain an integral part of me no matter where I am tomorrow.
Speaker D
I can’t choose just one favorite season. I adore the unique qualities that each one brings. Winter delights me with its enchanting snowscapes and festive cheer. Spring invigorates my spirit with its blossoming flowers and gentle breezes. Summer’s warmth and vibrant energy bring endless possibilities for fun and relaxation. Autumn’s colors and crisp air evoke a cozy nostalgic sense. Each season is a chapter in the story of nature, and I cherish the variety they offer.
Speaker E
Spring holds the top spot as my favorite season. It’s a time of rebirth and renewal, as nature awakens from its slumber. The vibrant burst of colors as flowers bloom and trees regain their foliage is a sight that fills me with delight. The gentle warmth of the sun invites outdoor exploration, long walks, and picnics in picturesque parks. Spring showers bring the earth back to life, cleansing the air and refreshing the senses. Witnessing the resilience of life emerging from the dormant earth makes me full with hope and optimism.
Speaker F
Autumn captures my heart as my favorite season. The gradual transition of leaves from vibrant green to hues of red, orange, and gold is a mesmerizing spectacle for me. Walking through a forest adorned in bright colours feels like stepping into a painting. The crispness in the air brings a comforting embrace, and the aroma of fallen leaves evokes nostalgia. Cozy sweaters, pumpkin-spiced treats, and the anticipation of harvest festivals add to the autumnal charm. I think it’s a time for reflection and gratitude as we embrace the beauty of change and prepare for the coming winter.

To be honest, I haven’t travelled much yet. We went to a maths competition in Kazan last year, and it was the first time I ever left my region! I loved Kazan, it is such a unique combination of historical and modern architecture. I wish I could visit more places in the future. This autumn we are hoping to go to a competition in India! I’m very excited about this trip, I hope everything works out fine with the weather and everything. It’s great when studying well gives you the opportunity to see the world.
Speaker B
I have visited three countries already, and of course I’d like to visit more. My parents are avid travellers — they have been all over the world! They like hiking and cycling, and they were actually able to cross a lot of countries on foot or on their bikes. When I was growing up, I always wanted to join them, but they believed that I was too young for such exhausting trips. Of course, it was very disappointing, but when I was actually allowed to join them on a trip to Mongolia, I realized how hard it was indeed! Still, it was an unbelievable experience.
Speaker C
You know, I actually really like my own region. Here we have everything: the mountains, the forests, and the sea. My friends think that I’m missing out by not venturing out more, and I always argue with them about it. I know our area like the back of my hand, and I love showing visitors around. Some people suggested that I could be a good tour guide, and I’m seriously considering studying touristic business at the university as my major.
Speaker D
I travel pretty often, but there is one serious problem — I’m really afraid of flying. I would really like to visit some faraway places — the thing is, it would take a very long time by train from where I live. It’s very disappointing, but, unfortunately, I can’t manage my fear of flying well enough to overcome it completely. As a result, I’m pretty limited in my choices of travelling destinations. Hopefully, I’ll beat my phobia one day — or scientists will invent teleportation!
Speaker E
I’m not a huge fan of travelling, and here is why — I can only go places in summer, and travelling during the summer is a complete nightmare. Going by bus is incredibly hot and uncomfortable, trains and planes are packed with other tourists who all want to visit the same places... If I spend too much time in a hot and crowded environment, I might get sick, and a couple of my vacations were ruined like that. So I’d rather save up money, stay at home and simply walk around the town.
Speaker F
We travel quite often with my friends. I really love that we are such a tight- knit crew. One person is always responsible for buying tickets, another — for booking the hotel, and so on. Personally, I am in charge of our schedule — I plan everything related to sightseeing, exhibitions, tours and everything like that. I’m a big fan of this role, as I like doing research and considering options. Our trips together always work like a clock — no surprises or disappointments!
